I recently stripped my vave cover, because I was going to polish it. Now I have found out how much work is involved in this, and I want to paint it the same color as the type R one. Do any of you guys know where to get that same paint, the same texture and color? I want that ripple paint so it looks stockish thanks

 

at any hardware store there is a paint that people use to paint their engine block, b/c it can take so much heat. i dont know if it'll make it stockish but it will stay on for sure.

your valve cover should never see more than 200 degrees, so high heat engine paint is fine. i have even heard of some people using "crackle paint" to get the stock look. i would like to look into going that route.

 

Years ago, on my Prelude, I used the Folia Tec Brake Caliper Laquer on my Valve cover. It turned out decent and matched my Calipers. You mind as well do anything you can when you use that kit since its a 2 part laquer with hardener so once mixed its good one time. That stuff is durable and thick. It repels oil, dirt, etc. I see too many people go through the trouble of re-painting their calipers and covers every now and then with cheap hardware high temp paint.

Time is money, I'd rather spend a little more money on the good stuff and only do it once. Plus, it looks 10 times better.

WOW, I havent updated that page for awhile. Pretty much nothing has changed except now I am rolling on some 17 inch Racing Hart C2's and have Alpine Multi-media and Navigation.

this was 3 months ago man. Yeah, i painted mine with crincle paint and that's what it ended up looking like.

 

If you want that look, spend the $$$ and get it powder coated

 

oh how special, matching valve cover and calipers!

 

Go to your local motorcycle shop and ask for wrinkle paint. It is used to paint the drive cases of motorcycles. The black looks exactly like the Honda valve cover finish. Follow the directions exactly as if you do not you will do it over again. As i recall it costs about $4.95. After it has fully cured use a flat file to remove the paint from the Honda Logo. It will look as good as or better than stock.
