Default Painting My Valve Cover

I want to paint my valve cover and I was wondering what would be the perfect CTR or ITR replica valve cover paint #. Well you all have to understand that I could only shop at KRAGEN and the local auto parts . So if yall painted them with spraycans please say and what kind and what paint #. Thanks a bunch in advance.

I got the paint at Kragen and it's called FORD RED 500 degree paint.

Yah. Don't put too much paint if you want to have the ITR valve cover look. When you're ready to paint, hold the can 8 inches up from the valve cover. The key is, you want a small amount of paint that gets into the valve cover. Wait at least 15 minutes each layer of paint and I only spent a total of 3 layers to paint mine.

*note* You won't need the whole can of paint. Once I was done, the paint can was still full that you probably could have return it back to Kragen and get your money back.

Just paint over the letters, then use a razor blade to remove the paint when you're done.

No! Didn't strip the black heat sinking paint.

how did you mask the letters?
Just paint it over. Once you're done painting, scrub it off with something smooth edged plastic tool or anything you can think off. The paint will still be wet so it'll be easier to take off.

Is it really that simple and clean to wipe/scrape the letters after you're done? I've heard of putting vaseline on the letters, is it worth it?

Just got done w/ 4 hours of dismantling my cover, intake, and looming wires and hoses, painting the cover and intake and reassembling. It looks pretty good. Except the Ford Red has a little hint of Orange, guess that whats you get when you let dumb hicks name the paint colors. Still looks damn good, I'll get pics up soon. Time for a beer
