Default a/c with swap

is it possible to have a crx with a b16 swap and retain the a/c? i might be buying one but the seller said there is no room for the a/c. if you can what parts do i need to make the a/c work ie. half size radiator etc. i tried searching but couldn't find what i needed. thanks in advance.

You can make it work with your stock A/C system, but you'll need HASport's BtoD A/C bracket. (D-series compressor on a B-series engine). It's also easier to work with if you use the stock B16 Exhaust Mani. If you're using an aftermarket header, you'll need a slim fan to replace the A/C fan and possibly custom lines. Check out "Wes V."'s resource page in the FAQ, he's got a writeup about how he did it with an LS swap in a hatch.

Hope that helps.

i'm the same install right now...there is also a bracket from innovative that is about 30-50 bucks cheaper...you will need the d-series pulley off the side of the stock bracket. Also the innovative bracket only works with the sanden compressor. I belive hasport has brackets for both. FYI the discharge hose for the sanden and matsushita compressor are different. I bought two at the junkyard before realizing that they're different. I actually have 3..haha. if you need extra hoses, incomplete wiring harnesses, and a matsushita compressor if you need. I forget what I have else I have in my garage. Installing this a/c has been a pain in the @ss. I bought a slim fan for the compressor because there might be a fitment issue with the engine swap. PM me for questions....I've researched just about everything on this install.

all stock lines can be used unless your turbo is in the way...

I used the hasport kit to do my b18 crx with ac. Although, I had a matsu compressor and it hit the front crossmember so I had to drop the crossmember a little bit.

yea..u can do that..fitment in the front of the condensor might be hard since one of the hardlines goes across the front of it....i think a guy put the fan in the front but to custom build a/c lines.

i'd sacrifice headers for a/c any day on a street driven car..

There is no reason why you can't have A/C with a header. You either have to use a VERY slim condensor fan OR just live with an A/C that can't be used unless the car is moving.

Buy the Hasport bracket!! I know there are cheaper ones out there, but it's the best I've seen. If the alignment isn't correct, you will throw belts.

Here is the link to how I re-installed the AC in my 89 hatchback with B18C (not an LS as Wizco said).

http://www.performanceforum.co....html

How difficult it is varies due to what combination of parts you are using!!!!!

The big thing is that it's possible.
