cleaning exhaust ports
ok so my exhaust ports have a good amount of idk buildup and it seems to have harden. I've searched and couldn't find anything.
Has anyone done this before? any tips on how to get this stuff out?
i'll be updating showing what i mean by "buildup" with pics.

seafoam your motor, find some local shop that'll do it for you, its the easiest way of doing it, it'll eliminate all carbon build up on the pistons ports and whole exhaust, your motor will run excellent afterwards, i believe it costs $35 if i remeber right but i9t may cost more around your area
i dont' want to start another thread.
I did some research on seafoam it seems to work good for some people and other people not good at all.
so what are my other options? Would i be able to use some carb cleaner and a brush?

dont use a wire brush unless your gonna dis assemble it to clean, last thing you want is a brissle to fall threw your valves. other than that use carb cleaner and a wrag. itll take some rubbin and lovin
the carb cleaner will just burn on the power stroke, aint nothin to worrie about

Lol, seafoam won't do ****

I always have vast amounts of buildup on my pistons/ports. The only way to get it off is with a wire brush and a flat-head screwdriver to chisel off the larger chunks. I've tried dozens of solvents, but nothing really works. Brakleen helps, but it goes fast so you'll need a few cans of it.
yeah carb cleaner and wrag didn't work so i needed either to chisel it or wire brush. i chose brush but now i have some of the buildup on top of the valve
.
the only way i would do this again is if its dissembled.

I've had good luck with a die grinder and a paint stripping wheel for the valve faces. It removes the carbon in an instant.
EDIT: Here's what I'm talking about. You can get this little kit at Home Depot for about $10. The greenish looking wheel is like brillo pad material and it works great. Just don't overdo it or you'll scratch up the valves. And if you don't have a die grinder, you can use it with an electric drill, it'll just take longer.

I did mine with brake cleaner and it did fine for me. It came off in chunks/flakes.
If you spray it in there make sure you take the spark plugs out and turn the engine with the starter to blow out any fluid build up in the cylinder.
Other ideas:
Would to be to use an abrasive blast of dry ice pellets.
Use a blow torch to heat up the carbon very slightly it and then spray the solvent on it to crack it. Try not to heat it where the metal is hot to the touch now do not want to cause cracking of the head.

did you just sayin use heat then ice on a aluminum head? dont use a chisel
wire brush, lots of carb cleaner, period. make shure you blow the ports out, if you end up with busted rings youll know why.
you know the ports you cleanin are gonna be black again on the first day you drive dont you?

after i was done i started it and let it burn out all the carb that went inside.
