DC HEADER CRACK..help!
the crack on my DC header is similar to the crack in the picture shown. Would i be able to weld this? I'm not really looking to buy a new a header, just tryin to fix mines (for now).
if your's is like that above, it's gone to hell and it's going to cost a lot to "redeem" it... lol. seriously though, you can fix it but unless you know how to weld yourself (and you wouldn't be asking this question to begin with, probably) or have a hookup to a welder, it's probably going to cost you a pretty penny to fix it. and considering it's a dc sports header which you can find at a reasonable price used nowadays, why go the route of fixing what you have when you can just find another that'll probably be the same price?

lol. now that's the ghetto/budget way to go.
how's that stuff work anyhow?

interesting, my brother tried JB Weld to seal a crack in his stock exhaust manifold, and after curing for the specified amount of time, he fired up the engine and the JB Crap was melted away in almost no time.
JB Weld cannot withstand exhaust manifold temperatures.

...Had an old DC 4-2-1 welded at least 10 times over 5 years before I finally threw it away, but I was driving almost 50Kmiles/year so that's not really too bad. It's any easy weld for most shops, should cost no more than 10 bucks.

Since it is a thermoset, it should burn not melt. Perhaps it wasn't fully cured before starting. Regardless, JB Weld is a poor option for an exhaust manifold.
I can't see the picture right now. Is the manifold SS or ceramic coated? I would drill the ends of the crack before welding to stop the propagation. If it is ceramic coated, you will need to remove the coating from the affected area.
