is this normal for new motor???
so i spun a rod bearing and had my engine rebuilt, sleeved, bored, balanced with all new internals that where aftermarket and i then was told to drive it around for a lil while to break it in, im at 600miles and i checked the oil to make sure no metal shavings because i have a magnetic drainplug... it has some metal on it but its not like big pieces or chunks or anything... its exactly what you get out of a differentil on a magnetic plug... just that little bit of fine metal from wear and tear... the engine seems fine and runs fine also... now remember, this is a completely rebuilt motor with all new parts... wanted to know if i would see a little bit of metal like that for a lil while because of break in or what?

yep. the sleeves will loosen up. The rings will wear down. The bearings will seat in. The tolerances are a little tight on new motors. Once everything is "comfy", you should stop seeing a lot of shavings.
