Default NO VTEC

i am having a big problem with my vtec not working and need help. my car is a 98 gsr and i swapped the jdm obd2 gsr motor in it. i changed out the jdm oil pump to the usdm and also got a vtec siloned and pressure switch off of a 95 gsr. the problem i am having is the butterflys are opening up but vtec is not kicking in. i have no clue why. i took the car up to a shop and they pressure tested the head to see if it was getting enough oil pressure to engage the vtec cam. they told me to get a new oil pump which i did and it should fix the issue but i am still having the same problem. the butterflys are opening up but vtec is not engaging. the car runs well with this problem but i am lagging vtec. i really need help.

Why did you swap the same motor in that came with the car? Did you just buy a rolling chassis? Anyways, get an obd2 vtec solenoid. I thought the plugs were different on the obd2 vtec solenoids anyways...well get the 96+ stuff. ECU might not be recognizing the vtec solenoid. Do you have a CEL? What ECU are you using? Also test your solenoid to see if it even works.

Here's how:
With the car off, unplug the vtec solenoid from the little plug by the head. Run a jumper wire directly from the pos(+) side of the battery and touch the wire on the vtec solenoid just long enough to hear an audible click. Once you hear the click, pull the jumper wire away. You don't wanna leave it touching too long. If you hear the click, then the solenoid is still good. If not, get a new solenoid.

i swapped that motor bc i bought the car with the motor blown up. and a rod went through the block. but i have the obd2 usdm p72 ecu and no check engine lights. checked the silenoid already and it works. they checked that at the shop i took it to. it seems as tho for some reason i am not getting enough oil pressure to allow the vtec to kick in. but i just replaced the old oil pump with a new itr one..... i am stuck and dont know what is not allowing vtec not to engage

So i suppose ur not throwing any codes. Did the shop tell you u had low oil pressure and for you to change the oil pump? Second how many miles are on the swapped engine? Did u over haul it before you put it in? Worn out main and rod bearings will cause you to loose oil pressure if their worn enough. Just my two cents hope u figure it out.
