Timing belt question....
I searched and found some info on the timing belt but was curious if i should change the tensioner and the water pump if they both appear to be in good working order? thanks
I bought my Es1 with 81K on the Odometer and I had the dealer put a new timing belt and water pump in at the time of purchase. Always a preventitive maintenece step to be taken at your 80,000 mark. Also should be done at 50,000 mile intervals after that.
I have 104k miles on the car. i bought it with that mileage and the previous owner hadn't changed it. I am looking at a kit on ebay that includes everything for under $200. My local dealership wants $750
or more for the replacement.
or more for the replacement.
as a someone that works at a dealer i would say yes to at least the water pump not so much for the tenisor and since u are in there the water pump is easy to take out and yes after a while they do go bad so be better safe then sorry, tenisor go bad but that is few and far between
and if u are working on an ex have fun just more crap u got to move

do tensioner, water pump everything while you're at it. price the kit from the dealer too, I think I paid something like $250 for my kit. make sure you line up everything good, but I'm sure you know that already
i would deff replace the water pump the tensioner probably not the water pump will deff leak before the belt is due to be changed agian
