Default Rear window spontaneously shatter?

Anyone have this problem??

I was @ my GF's house yesterday watching TV shows... was inside the house from about 12pm-4pm... come outside and my entire rear window is shattered!!!

It didn't look like a bat was taken to it.... only thing I could see was a small puncture hole on the bottom right.

I closed my door to talk to the folks across the street ... when I did the, then entire rear window caved into my car (****** sweet, i was so ******* pissed) but they didn't see anything out of the norm...

manufacturer defect???? anyone?

I had this happen on my 240sx while driving.

The windows were just tinted and the glass was heated it started to drizzle and the glass shattered with only the tint holding it together.

Did you have your heat on? go from extreme climate changes etc ?

It could actually have been someone throwing something at your car i.e the hole

nah, it was about 70-75 degrees outside. i was in the house watching TV... i.e. car is off and all by itself.

no tints, no extreme climate changes, just RANDOM. i'll mention the neighborhood isn't the best. I immediately blamed the neighborhood cuz it's a ******* joke..

I think it may have been an accident with some kids or something and no one wanted to fess up to my new $570 bill

I had mine shatter in the garage on the 05 civic, and got it covered under warranty. (Glass Defect) My tint was the only thing holding it together. Sorry to hear about the bad news.

Some asshat shot my windshield with a BB when I was driving. Luckily I was able to fix it with some windsielf repair kit before it cracked.

those jackasses across the street probably did it! the only thing i can think of that they would use, is a piece of ceramic from a spark plug! trust me guys a little piece can turn someone's nice afternoon into a nightmare! and it doesn't take a lot of force to create the damage, hence the little hole! i speak from experience...

Same deal here in South Carolina. It's a good thing too...our windshields are huge and expensive to replace.

I'm normally pretty suspicious too. But a good look around might point to the problem. Were there any fresh cut lawns? Those pebbles FLY out of the mowers! I've seen too many ID10Ts blowing the grass right at vehicles too. It may explain the whole problem.
I hate to bring up the insurance issue, but if you have full coverage (I think it's required on a vehicle with a loan out on it. May vary per State.) You may be able to get it replaced. Just weigh the difference between increased rates in the future. It may be cheaper in the long run to get it replaced yourself, and only have to pay once. Good luck.

Take the white part of a spark plug. Maybe about half the size of a marble. Throw it at a piece of glass....see what happens! You hear nothing when you throw it. until it shatters.

Anyway GL on finding who did it, i am sure your neighbors would not know.
