Default CD5 with ABS issues

I've gotta 95 EX coupe. Over the weekend while coasting on the highway my abs light came on. I didnt really think much of it cause its come on int he past then gone off but now it remains on. If i start my car it goes off after initial "bulb test" then comes back on about 30 seconds later whether or not i'm actually driving. Each time it comes on i hear a loud click on the passenger side somewhere.. like a relay or something. Anyone have any idea where i should start to troubleshoot this. I checked the "abs" reservoir and honestly it was so dirty i couldnt tell if there was fluid in it.. so i filled it up to the max line. Other than that i havent the first clue where to check.. this is my first car with abs.

next time its on test to see if you actually have abs or not..

go to somewhere safe and slam on the brakes and see if they lock up or not. if they do, then you might have to replace, if they act normal, then it might be electrical. I think there is a problem with something electrical on the abs equipped ones.

check your fluid levels and see if the abs modulator is leaking, if it is, reseal it and you should be good to go.

you should pull the codes to see what the system thinks the problem is

AutoZone will hook you up. Then all you have to do is pinpoint the problem.

i definitely have abs because its activated before.. during normal braking (not slamming the brakes). I didnt realize autozone could check for the abs issue.. i'll get them to check it out and post results.

If it is a problem with the ABS , it will read it.

I have a 96 Accord EX and had a similar problem. I found the brake fluid reservoir and I had to use hand cleaner to wipe off all the dirt on top, so that I can see if fluid is needed. And it was low. I stick a funnel in and proceed to fill. Guess what, most fluid gush out from the fill hole. I learned that fluid only flow from a small opening right below the rim of the reservoir to other part of the reservoir.

So, what I'm suggesting is that, hold your funnel tube steady and just right below the rim, then add a tiny portion of fluid at a time, and watch the direction of fluid flowing. Of course, you need to clean the outside of reservoir so that you can see if you even need fluid.

My problem went away after I filled the reservoir. The clicking/humming noise went away. The noise was from the ABS modulator (pump) trying to pump up the pressure of the ABS system before driving. After 30 secs, if the pressure is not up to where it should be, then it disables ABS, light comes on.
