Default 00-01 Itr ecu plug in 99-00 Si?

I let my friend borrow my 00 Itr ecu just to try it in his 99 Si, it plugs in, but he cannot start the car? Any ideas why? I thought it was just a plug and play kind of situation. Thanks for any help.

the immobilizer is my first hunch.

btw even if the car did start with the ecu, my guesses is that he would stand a good chance bending a valve or two redlining at 8500 rpm.

Thanks, I thought that was the problem too.

How do I go about it removing it? Any links or descriptions?

get someone locally to help you out with that one.

I wont go into detail about it for I'm not in the business to help newbie thieves gain knowledge...but even if someone did give you directions to do this over the internet, its not a simple task.

oh yes, one other thing i would suggest to him, i would suggest if hes spending that much $$ for a ecu upgrade, to consider a standalone unit instead.

Immobilizer is your culprit. Tell him to get a 97/98 ECU.

I let him try it because he wanted to trade me for his ecu harness and vtec controller (fields). I thought it was a fair trade since I want to run Kenji's ecu or possibly a Hondata in the future. So I had no use for the stock ecu anymore, I just want to help him out.

Any local bay area people that may be able to help?

Thanks.

the immobilizer is one part, and you also have to repin a couple of wires
