Turbo water lines
Good point. The car in question is a mazdaspeed 6. Oh how I hate working between an engine block and a firewall with all those heater core lines and whatnot in the way. And I thought the S4 had a tight fitment for downpipes, this thing is nuts!
remove the hoses and plug them, factory turbo cars should have dedicated coolant ports if not find the T's and remove/plug them.
its always best to remove coolant hoses with no purpose because they will eventually rupture.
less parts less problems.

Since the car had a water cooled turbo stock I would NOT remove them, just loop them. It may be the only thermostat bypass. I would try and mazdaspeed forum though

Block them off--that's how the DSM guys do it. One of our lines comes from the front water pipe coming off of the water pump, and the other line from the lower half of the thermostat housing so essentially both lines are in the lower half of the system (as in between the thermostat and the one inlet of the radiator. Trace the lines on that car and see if it's setup similarly.
