Default Help an F/H family member out!

Normally I'm in the Prelude section of H-T, but I've got a question concerning a swap.
I plan on boosting in the near future, however recently my h23's main bearings have decided they've had enough, I believe it's my oil pump's fault... So I know that the F-series bottom ends are a little stronger with the cast iron sleeves, yada yada. I had originally planned on getting an f22b1 and swapping it into my '94 Si, but a local guy is selling an f22b2 complete motor for $75. (partout, trying to get rid of stuff).
A few questions I have are partaining to swapping this into my car. Is there any harness I can use that will help out a little on the wiring? I've got basic electrical in school and am learning the jist of wiring diagrams, etc.
I've also been told that with the f22b1 (again, I'm assuming the same would apply to the b2 because all F/H stuff is interchangeable) will be a direct bolt up swap, same mounts and all. For now I'll be using my h23 M2S4 tranny, and I'll have to find a 5speed ecu for the new motor. Someone please let me know what I'm in for as far as wiring or any other problems I might run into with the swap.
Thanks,
Michael

I normally would not bump my thread in the same day... just wondering if anyone could help send me in the right direction. My friend needs the motor gone asap, and I need to know anything you guys can give me about it.
Is it possible for me to use a Prelude S (came with an f22a_) harness or anything?

The f22b1 is an SOHC VTEC with 85 x 95 mm bore and stroke making 145 hp and 147 torque. Compare that to the H23 which is DOHC non VTEC with 87 x 95 mm bore and stroke making 160 hp and 163 torque. The f22 does have iron sleeves which are good for boost so you could put new slugs in there at a much lower cost. It has low 8.8:1 compression and a head that doesn't breath as well. I am not sure how well the f pistons hold up to boost but I would change the head on that thing to a dohc vtec. It should bolt right up to your car and if you use the h23 wire harness you will have to wire vtec. If it comes with a harness then it is just plug and play. I think it could be a good foundation with more research and a game plan. But you won't be happy until you spend some of that money that you saved on the engine.

What if I can find a b1 head? How much would that change the harness, if any? I know I would then still have to wire vtec, but what else? I REALLY was after a b1 originally, if I can still find one I'm going with it. I've seen several guys running completely stock b1's with the exception of arp head studs and an upgraded clutch and making 300whp/tq. They're strong enough, I just have to know really how I can get one into my car.
Basically for the swap I'll need the motor and the 5spd. ecu, correct? And if it's got a vtec head, wire up vtec. A guy with an h22a swapped Prelude told me that vtec is like 2 or 3 wires IIRC? Is that true?

Sorry I completely glossed over what you said about the b2. The only difference between it and the b1 is it isn't vtec so it only makes 130 hp and 139 torque. You are correct that vtec is only 3 wires and real easy to hook up. However if you are going to change the head I would recomend the h23 head. Just canibalize your old engine for its head, intake manifold, tb which I think is bigger, and water pipe.

I'm thinking I might just run the h23 IM and the TB if they'll work with the f22b1 head. Trying to keep it decently simple. So what harness should I use, my h23 harness? and that's plug and play with the f22b_, provided I have the 5spd Accord ecu and wire up vtec... correct?

you can put a H22a head on a F block but there is no way that F series is gonna last at 7900rpm.........you can get a pretty good motor with that combo

I don't really want anything to rev high, like I said this will be a boost build. I might just stick with the stock f22 motor as far as a head swap is concerned. I have to follow the KISS rule.

Yeah I'm planning on ~275+
Probably ARP studs and that's it.

Wiring vtec consists of power and ground to the pressure switch, and to the solenoid, correct? Is this the only wiring I have to do?
