throttle-body sizing..... theory?
I see people get spoon tapered to stock bore throttle bodies...
And I see people overboring their stock TB's...
And I see aftermarket TB's that are even 6mm or so bigger in diameter.....
What if you got something like a 90mm throttle body? Would it even make sense to have such a thing on a 1.8L like the b18c5?
Or does it depend on the application? NA vs. S/C vs. NOS vs. b00st.....?

.....well I saw the darndest thing today:
a jdm setup with... 90mm throttle body on a b-series motor that is NA, with a custom intake manifold.
I *might* be able to post up pics if I get approval...

Whats your throttle response like?

Wouldn't mind taking a stab at that mini-surge tank/IM thingy though
My theory would be sizing your throttle body should be proportionate to what kind of driving you're doing. a 90 mm throttle body is probably for something that revs over 10k rpm.
I think you want a compromise between going larger and keeping your intake air velocity up. Remember bigger isn't always necessarily better-talking about throttle bodies now, HEY! haha

tappered sucks!
what would a size of a throttle body be to be equal to the diameter of the intake manif? in other words, whats the inside diameter of the intake manifold on a ITR?

Ericks revs up to 10,800rpms and he is still running 70mm TB ..
how much help with a 90mm
how much help with a 90mm
from 70. Also its a 2+L motor, which can make use of it. A 1.8L most likely
wont be able to.
I dynod a 1.8 ITR today and the TB made 0 difference. No gain or loss whatsoever.
sorry
, i though for some reason i read something else ...
meeen! im tired and is also late but you are right ..
is the samething with the spoon TB same as the itr

I wont even respond to the second question. You should already know the answer.
