How bad are the threads? You have a picture? You can use a thread file to "repair" the thread if it's not totally mangled up, but you might need a new end.

I take it you hit the threaded part out directly with a hammer? You need a balljoint splitter or you can hit the arm where the BJ goes through to shock it out.

i had a similar problem, the tie was stripped though. I guess the jackass who did the last strut replacement didn't like using the right tools. how did you end up fixing it?

His thread was not messed up all that much. All he needed was to get the tie-rod from spinning around so he used the OEM Jack Stand to wedge on top of the tierod and put pressure against the chassis to keep it from spinning.

If you destroyed the thread bad enough, you are better off replacing the tie-rod end. Especially if you have high mileage on your civic already.

i've had two 7th gens, had the suspension apart on both of them numerous times, and never had trouble with those pesky tie-rod ends! but yeah, if you messed it up, just buy a new one. it wouldn't hurt to get one. i've had them going bad on long drives and it sucks having your steering wheel about shake out of your hands, or worse, like the end completely going out and your wheel going all crazy and peeling your fender up.
