Default EP3 gearing compared to GSR?

I had a little run in with what I think is an early model GSR tonight on the freeway... He pulled on me from a 4th gear run from 70ish and my car was only at his like rear quarter panel.

I am curious as to if the GSR has better gearing for higher speeds or what? I know his car had at least an exhaust but not sure what else.

I don't want any "EP3s are slow, that is why you lost" comments either. I don't care what you think about ep3s I just wanna know about gearing.

EP3S are slow thats why you lost!!!!

god who cares about ep3's wasnt that like the worst honda ever produced

the newer gsrs were geared close to the fg2/fa5 because in third gear with a gsr the number of rpms your running matched your speed so if you were at 5ooo rpms you were at 50 mph and the fg is the same way

Early as in square headlights. I dunno. It seemed like a gsr to me. It has the DOHC VTEC emblem on the back. Did the early GSRs have that?

94-01 GSR's all had the same gearing and motor, 1.8L DOHC VTEC.

The 92-93 GSR had a 1.7L DOHC VTEC, but did not have a VTEC badge on the back.

As for gearing, a quick google search will give you the gear ratios and FD for both cars.

And pulling away in 4th gear is much more difficult than pulling away from a standstill. GSRs breate a lot better up top than your EP3.

4th gear pull from 70mph? both an EP3 and a GSR will be pulling slow as hell lol

Usually on any decent 4 cylinder motor 1st and 2nd gear is pretty even. It isn't until 3rd that horsepower starts to take charge and the faster car then starts to walk away.

It was a pretty slow pull. Why would a GSR breathe better?

the GSR has the 3 lobe vtec where the ep has the weak intake vtec that kicks over at 2200 rpms

O yea im sure it was the vtec that was the determining factor

not to steal the thread, but i was wondering about the jdm dc2 itr gearing compared to dc5-s 05? i pulled a itr at 2nd gear start on the highway all the way til 5th gear. Amazing the jdm itr was still at my tail until 5th gear he pulled to my door. then he couldnt go any futher. itr dc2 got some kick on the 5th isnt it?
