1992 Accord is failing emission test
Hello
I searched around and was only able to find this thread that sorta applied to my problem
https://honda-tech.com/zero...16815
So I thought I would ask again seeing how my problem isn't 100% the same.
My parents have a 92 Accord with a 2.2 and its failling the CO @ 40KM on the E-test. 2yrs ago it also failed but they did the conditional pass at the time. 2yrs ago the diagnostic told them to change the O2 (which they just change and the garage said it was defective) after changing the O2 it still failed.
Anyways 2yrs later its E-test time again. Sent it in for a Etest and it the reading for CO was 40 and its at 125. So I decided to change Cap, Rotor, Wires, Plugs, Gas Filter, Air Filter, and PCV Valve (plugs were wore, air was REALLY dirty, Wires, Fuel, and PCV were original. I also did a Fuel Injection Flush (motorvac system) and tested the O2 (seemed to be switching very well) and a Oil Change
Did the 2nd Etest today and the CO went from 125 to 124 LOL
Hopefully someone out there can send some advice. Also the Convertor was replaced about 2mths ago....
Thanks in advance
Matt

I have a 93 and mine barely passed
what else can be done beside cleaning EGR
if theres a leak or restriction after the sensor does that affect?

hhmmmm
thats alittle tough, maybe you got some shitty gas,(been sittin for a while or somethin, or a cheap station that gets last pick for thier gas) Ignition timing right? any exhaust leaks, vaccum leaks, head gasket isn't possibly leaking is it? Cam timing correct? Or you can try and cheat I've heard puttin a little alcohol in the gas cleans up your emissions, i've never tried it tho, so not sure if its
or not, Good luck homie keep us posted

WOW......My parents Accord can't be the only one that has had this problem. I would have thought that someone on here had experinced this and was able to fix the problem.
The EGR tubes were cleaned out 2yrs ago before it failed last time.

Hi,
My 92 accord has been in the shop for 2 days failing no2 etest! Did the same 2 years ago and they replaced the catalytic converter - ouch! Did this again but did not help - they also "cleaned" the egr. It is still in shop so I am not sure what all they have done as yet, nor do I have all the resulting numbers from etest. I can say they are out 3/100's.
Guess the accord may be problematic in this regard!
Good luck.
Bill
