Default Clutch Problems!!!!

Ack, well I finally found this thread after I posted in another one...Sorry mods.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2136114

But here's what's going on.

What it is: F1 Racing Stage 3 clutch (6 puck) and an 8lb flywheel
Mileage on clutch: ~60
Issues: EXTREMELY soft pedal. Its stiffer than an OEM, but doesn't feel right to me. Is this normal for these? Other puck style clutches I have are nice and stiff. It also doesn't wanna engage and grab until the VERY end of the clutch pedal travel. Is this normal for these clutches? Again, other puck clutches I've had in the past grab right on the floor or damn near it.

any help would be great.

Do you have a helms? Adjust the clutch pedal to spec.

Actually, I had this in photobucket. This is what you should need.

yup, i got the helms and adjusted my clutch pedal, but it still doesn't engage until the end. it grabs more now as I put more miles on it. but im still concerned about the late engagement.

wait, that one is a little different from mine. oh..maybe because I have the chilton.

how would I go about adjusting figure d the engagement distance?? does it have an step by step on how to adjust that travel?

could it also be a bad slave or master cylinder???

why are you using stage 3?
your sig says your prelude is stock

only advice is to check the pedel engagement and check your clutch fluid

If your fluid is dirtly then sometimes a flush and fill will firm up the pedel and slightly change the engage point

Any luck with it? I'm in desperate need of a new clutch and can't figure out what to get. (Need a stage 3, I'm boosting in the future) F1, XTD, etc?

eBay is a marketplace dude, not a brand.... they have good sellers and shady ones..

onto the real issue

did you bleed your clutch system? when i replaced the master cylinder and was bleeding the system it only had engagement at the very bottom.. then after a lot of clutching it came back out a couple inches.. and if all else fails, go play with your pedal adjustments some more.

stage 3 on a stock motor- lol that must be fun. im not completely sure what I have (havent cracked it open yet) but if stage 3 is any stiffer than mine, i'd imagine you sit all the way forward. im like 3 notches from all the way forward + some recline for comfort.

Check if your master cylinder is bled. My friend did an auto to manual conversion and basicaly he had to fill the master cylinder before he installed the reservoir to get fluid to it (I think he held it open, and then filled it). And when I drained the fluid from my Z(turbo), it was a bitch to bleed that, the clutch came back, and then faded, so stick with it, im sure it'll be OK. let me know how the clutch works, I was thinking F1 Racing for my CRX.

60,000 miles on a Stage 3 F1? I would lean at the possibility that your clutch is worn if the system is properly bled.... that's about the service limit I've had with clutches at least....

You get what you pay for. I have had a few F1 clutched and have had alot of problems with them. Stick with a name brand.
