Civic Rad + Slim Rad Fan Question
This may sound like a stupid question, but....
Would the fan's direction impact cooling? For some reason the slim fan I had installed by a local tuning shop was pushing the air out from the engine bay towards the front of the car. After my car overheated (or came very close to it anyway) I decided to change the polarity to make the fan suck the air from the front and into the engine bay (which IMO makes a lot more sense). Did the tuning shop screw this up, or does it not make a difference either way.

This isn't a stupid question at all.
Contrary to some beliefs, the purpose of a fan is to pull cool air through the radiator at an accelerated rate. It is not there to blow air on the engine to cool it. That is why you must have a fan shroud, so it pulls air specifically through the radiator.
You have it set up correctly now.

Hey, what kind of hoses (accord, civic, prelude, etc.) did you use for the civic radiator? I wanted to get a half size radiator for my H23 but when I searched, I found that some people said to use prelude hoses, some said to use civic hoses, and some said to mold the prelude and civic hoses together to make it fit...?
^^The problem is that you need prelude size at the water jackets, and civic size at the radiator.
I believe the stock lower prelude hose will work, just get a screw-type clamp and crank it tight, but not too tight.
For an upper hose, I believe we just went to pep boys and scoured the shelves until we found something that looked like it would fit.

Actually, the tuning shop I went with actually cut off the top tank hose fitting of the rad (yonaka aluminum civic half dual core rad) and welded on a bigger one to match the Prelude hoses, so cutting or needing to screw around with the hoses wasn't required. The fitting on the bottom tank didn't need to be modified as it fit the OEM prelude hose just fine.
Of course the top hose needed to be cut to fit properly, but that's done easily enough.
Thanks for confirming that I did the right thing by changing the polarity on the fan. I guess that was one of the main reasons why my car was overheating then?

I'll find out next time I take it out. I'll try to bring it for a drive this afternoon, but the thing is that it's slowly but surely getting colder here (Ottawa, Canada), so I'm not sure if things are staying on the cooler side because of the rad fan changes, or the actual exterior temp.
Is the civic half size radiator straight bolt on or do some mods need to be done? I think the driverside top radiator support bracket has to redrilled (moved) more to the passenger side right? What about the bottom?
Here's a crude shot of my engine bay. Notice there's only one rad support backet on the top that's needed for the half-rad. All you need to do is drill an extra hole in the rad support so it doesn't pivot around (the pics below don't display the extra mounting screw /hole] The bottom needs another anchor to be welded on, but most people don't even do that and just hook it up using the existing anchor and leave the left side of the rad hanging.

P.S.
Sorry again for the shitty quality of the pics, and the fact that none of the turbo parts have been powder coated yet. I gotta leave something for me to do over the winter months..lol

thats EXACTLY what i did w/ my 1/2 rad, word for word.

It depends on what civic size radiator you get. The only one I am aware of that has prelude size inlets and outlets is the mushimoto radiator. All the others require you to puy a piece of civic hose under the prelude hose as you stated in the last of your post. T bolt clamps are the only way to go bolt the hoses down as it will leak a bit with the screw clamp type.
