Default v-tec...=(

i have an 05 dc5-s....

i bought my car...
put on a CAI almost immediately...

after i put it on i can feel and hear my vtec kick hard...

i took it off tho cuz it rains hardcore in seattle.

i cant hear my vtec..feel but not hear....and it doesnt feel as goood..

will SRI make my vtec crack again?

am i tripping out or is it the fact that im not use to it..anyone running stock airbox, and their vtec sucks?

and quick question, is k24 vtec similar to type-s motors?
slap on intake and the vtec will crack hard?

and, has anyone done a k24 swap in a dc5? or ep3?

you must've blown your vtec. Check your vtec fluid in case you are low.

Or maybe he should check his headlight fluid? Its not that its not "kicking" as hard, its just that an intake will amplify the sound and of course you're getting added horsepower so in turn it will feel stronger. But, your car is fine, and an SRI will have the same affect as the CAI. Didn't you IM me about trading your CAI for my SRI? Maybe it was someone else, I can't remember.

Your better off with your stock airbox then a SRI. Once that SRI Heatsoaks your car is gonna feel like crap. Might be alright for the first few minutes driving but once that thing heatsoaks, forget it. I think if you look around on CRSX they will have dynos for all the various intakes.

They did a study on CRSX, 6 pulls with a CAI, SRI, and AEM V2. Out of the 3 , the SRI had the highest average. Im sure someone could provide the link. If not. I will later when I get out of class and get home.

in our cars, even the OEM airbox will heatsoak eventually. that material isn't heat resistant

Vtec should not "kick hard" if the car is tuned right, it should be a smooth transition. You sound like a typical ricer by saying "my vtec cracks hard."

what is with people and saying "real vtec"? the K series motors uses the same B series VTEC. What's the difference? The only difference is the K-series uses VTC added to VTEC. VTC+VTEC = I-Vtec. Both motors utilize "real VTEC"

And it's funny to hear people about "heat soak". here's the link for the crsx runs on the intakes:

He refers to the term "real vtec" b/c the a3 kicks in at low rpm's and the a2 kicks in at high rpm's. Oh yea and he drives a slow fg. to haters.

i wouldent mind kicking and Fag2's *** with a real vtec ep3

why dont you post when your not such a dick...

now i will agree with what has been said, with vtec tuned correctly there will be no kick in vtec because you do not want to drop in midrange power like you see on some dynographs. Not feeling or hearing your vtec could be a couple of things, first have you got a cel on? second have you checked your oil? (because if your always in vtec is does burn a little oil and if your oil is low then it will not switch over) Can you get a video of your gauge cluster so we can see what the hell is going on number three the stock airbox is a little restrictive and a lot of noise reduction with the air box so you cannot hear it as well, with a SRI you will prob. notice the sound of it a little more noticeable. Dont forget that people in there 40's and 50's bought these cars also and would not want the loud sound of an air intake so you will have to fix it yourself.

1. Putting on a intake adds a lil power and alot of sound/

2. Alot of people feel sound makes a car SEEM faster if u can understand what i mean.

3. yes ur SRI will make the VTEC crossover louder.

4. if u want to getinto swaps keep ur head use the k24 block!!

yeah i put a blox velocity stack and filter on my stock intake and daggum that think is hella loud, i really did notice a slight pick up in acceleration. plus car always squeals 2nd gear now ( with the stock airbox it could manage to do that do to the 17x9.5 wheels )
