Default Valve Cover Replacement

I did a search and nothing... I just had my spare Valve Cover Powder Coated and was looking to finally install it... I already bought a kit for the seals and the grommets so im set with the installation, just wanted to make sure I had everything, how much to torque down the bolts, and anything else to look out for/tips.

these are the seals i bought:

I purchased #1 and 4 #4's... everything else Im taking off my current valve cover and reusing

people may bust me for this, but when i reinstalled my vc i just did it by hand. You kinda get the feel for it. Just look out for overtightening.

I know in B series its easy to over torque and strip the nuts.

Bump for some specifics though

When I took my valve cover off for fun I just put it back on the exact same way it came off. And I tightend everything by hand. It looks like you got the right seals. The only thing I remeber being a bitch was getting the back of the valvecover out cause theres this wire harness in the way. But I just kinda squeezed it out and then back on. Anyways goodluck. How much would you sell your extra valve cover for and the gold spark plug cover if you were going to sell them???

imo there is no reason to look that up. youll know when its tight. there is know reason to get to tight on it anyway.

If you can get the proper torque specs you should do it (on everything). My reason why?...

1. If you don't tighten it enough it can cause failure (eventually) in the form of it backing out, or having a leak and so on.
2. If you over tighten it, it could cause more wear in that particular area and could cause premature failure. On the bolt or the area around it. Not to mention it might become a pain in the *** to take it out if you ever needed to remove that bolt to change a part or something.

well since a valve cover is in no position to hurt anything other then to leak. that is not something i can see my self takeing the to look up. rod bolts, hg, ect. critcal **** is a differant story.

10mm headed bolts torque to 9ft lbs

Use a light coat of oil on the gasket as it will help keep it in the groove.

The only thing to watch for is make sure the tube seals seal around the tubes that the spark plugs go into. Its tricky. Set the cover on then look throught the spark plug holes and you will see the seals. Us a small flat head and be sure not to rip the gasket and slowly work your way around each hole. Use some oil to lubricate it makes it easier.

your tightening it either way so in the end it shouldn't make a difference.

Their right. Its only 9ft lbs so any pattern would work. But do like i do on anything like that. Start on the inside and work your way out in a criss cross pattern if you can.

ohhhhh def... i was contemplating either way, go with a gold/black theme or go with a black/gold theme...

The intake manifold and throttle body is most likely next. I gotta wait until I get back the bored TB and port matched IM though...
