Hi I posted awhile back about my car burning oil randomly well I have been keeping track of the oil levels for about 2 weeks now (checked every day) this is what I came up with. I changed my oil and 2 weeks after (700-750k) my cars oil level droped from upper mark to middle. The only thing I never did that day was let my car warm up before I drove off after work thats all anyone know whats wrong ? if it was rings and or valve seals wouldn't it burn oil always ? I have a b16a3 motor with 130k on it is this a problem with b16 motors ? Also I never went past 4000 rpm (No vtec)

Edit- I also replaced the drain plug washer when I did the oil change.
Edit- I need a valve adjustment done would this cause oil to burn ?

 

If you're consuming less than 1 quart per 1600 KM (which seems to be close to what you're describing), I wouldn't be terribly concerned.

well its only been like 750k since oil change. I need a valve adjustment done would this cause oil to burn ? I am using valvoline oil (regular) 5w 30

 

no oil passes thru the valves so it wouldnt make a difference

Man anyone have any idea's ? This has been bothering me for awhile now. I know its not that big of a deal but I feel like the car is crapping out which I dont want to happen..

Yes, but you've only consumed around 1/2 quart, from what you're describing. Do a compression test, and at the next oil change, try switching to a high-mileage formula. Again though, I don't think you have cause for concern.

 

on my motor i use castrol high mileage and even tho my motor burns no oil i still use it and always use an oil additive with everyoil change... and please stay away from the 5w-30 oil viscosity too light your motor will burn oil slower if u use 10w- 30

 

What are good numbers for a b16 when I do the compression test ?

Yeah, use 10w-30 or 10w-40 if you feel like letting your car warm-up a bit extra at the gain of lower burning of oil.

Stay away from full synthetics as they leak/burn more. Like midori said, castrol high mileage is a good answer if its weighted a bit.

ok does this mean my valve seals need to be replaced ? I am trying to find out whats causing it I hope its not the rings.. If its the valve seals I am going to get them replaced

 

I would also like to say the car does not feel weak etc still runs fine..
