Default Sunroof Leaks

I know there was just a thread about water leaking. But, somehow my sunroof leaks so bad that my carpet gets soaked with water, the change holder in the window control panel fills, and my headliner up to my visor gets soaked. Is there some kind of drainage tube that it getting clogged up or something?

My bad mentioned cleaning a tube or line, but I couldn't find one. If the tube thing is true, I don't think it is the sunroof seal as it is supposed to let a little seep through and be drained. Any help is appreciated

I had the same problem with my accord. First of all i need to explain why it is leaking. The sunroof IS actually designed to leak. The water is not meant to be sealed where the glass contacts the roof. With the sunroof open you can see a tray around the edge that channels the water that leaks from around the edge of the sunroof. Towards the front there are two small drain holes on each side about an 1/8th of an inch wide. These allow the water that collects to drain away safely. Unfortunatly they get clogged and when they do the only place the water can go when the tray fills up is into the passenger compartment (or in my case when i'm driving, the water sloshes to the side and spills out on me- not very fun).

THE FIX- Fixing mine was pretty easy. First use a bottle to pour some water into the drain tray when the sunroof is open. This will allow you to see which drain hole (or both) is clogged (give the water some time to drain- it makes a "sucking" sound if it is draining properly). To unclog the clogged drain tube, take some weekwacker line (the circular plastic stuff), and feed it down as far as it will go (you will need a couple of feet). It might take a while to loosen the clog, but when it does, the water that is in the tray will begin to drain away through that hole, and your sunroof should not leak into the passenger compartment anymore. If worse comes to worse and the clog cant be fixed with the line, you could try and blow some high pressure air through the line, and that should free the clog. As long as both drain tubes are free, the sunroof shouldnt leak.

Good luck
