Hi i am new here, and it seemslike you guys know what you are talking about so here is my question.

I am buying a 2000 Honda Accord

i am really excited because i have always wanted a honda and i am finally getting one. The only thing i dont like is the black side molding. I was hoping i could find some replacment already painted, Any ideas where i would find that??? I have found the 2 dr version but not the 4.

Oh and one more thing, Since the car is 7 yrs old, if i buy a spoiler that is already painted do you think the paint will match well enough?

Any imput would be great! Thanks!

You can paint it yourself, you just need to sand, treat, prime and then paint...depending on your skill level of course.

seems like you could be right, i am just going off what my inlaws tell me. I guess i won't know for sure till it gets here. Either way i will be happy to buy an accord with 25k miles for 5 grand no matter what year it is. I still want to fix some stuff so it looks how i want it to. Thanks for the info...

skill level is a serious issue, as i have never painted anything on a car ever. I wonder if i can get it done at a shop, or maybe my dad can do it. He paints cars alll the time, but he will think it is stupid to bother on a japenese car.

accords are every 4 years as well. 90-93, 94-97, 98-02, 03-07 etc etc

that could very well be a 2000 accord. the tails from the 98 and the 2000 are the same.

the accords do not change body styles every 2 years, they do make changes to the body (tail lights, front and rear facias etc) but the cars look exactly the same to the untrained eye

Take a look in the back dash, are there tethers for baby seats? They will be very visible if you are behind the car, they'll stand up. If there are no tethers, it's a '98 or '99. If there are tethers, it's an '00.

If there are no tethers, take a look at the side mirrors. Are they fixed in position, or do they bend (fold back)? '98 had fixed mirrors, '99 had bendable mirrors.

Anyway, with regard to the bumper, I like the black bumper on my car. Try it for a while, I think you'll learn to like it. And as for the spoiler - put the money into a new radio. You can buy some great head units for $150 or so from Crutchfield.

And most importantly... have a mechanic look over the car, especially the transmission (assuming it's an automatic transmission). This generation (6th) of Accords are notorious for bad automatic transmissions.

And if your plastic hubcaps are scratched up or otherwise faded, you can buy new ones for about $18 from your local honda dealer. You only really need to replace two at a time (the two tires on either side).

Edit: Yeah, I see the tethers on either side of the center brake light - it's an '00.

i am bowing out of the audio dept. My fiance is a producer and is way into car steros and stuff, he is doing something (don't ask me what) that he says will play the music we like "the best" He said it is going to cost about 350.00 i will let you know what he comes up with. Right now it has a tape deck, pretty sweet!

First thing it gets when it gets to the great white north is snow tires, so i was going to deal with wheels and summer tires in the spring.

Here are the other photos i have if you want to take a look and tell me what you think.
