Default Ramhorn manifolds...Where in the powerband will you see the most gain?

My buddy is thinking of spending the money for a good Ramhorn setup on his boosted GSR swap. (Turbonetics Super 60 T3/T4).

He's looking for mods to increase midrange....where does the Ramhorn shine?

He had this setup on his Civic D16Y8 making 260whp, but he was unimpressed because it had no power until 5000rpm, and dropped below boost after each shift (Stock GSR Redline should cure that now, but he still wants midrange)

Thx.

i cant say for the ramhorn, but i have a shorty ram and i love it....it makes good power all around. When i switched the manifold from a topmount to my SLS shorty, i picked up 50whp/50wtq in the midrange...

What manifold is on there now? 5000rpm for a Super 60 is very laggy.

One of those gold/brass headers, looks cool, but seems really small.

Moot point anyways now, as he's gonna change it up for the GSR. Those Ram-horns must be expensive for a reason lol.

What about those OBX ramhorn turbo manifolds? The pipes seem smaller than the expensive ramhorns, but the prices are really attractive on eBay.

If you put junk parts on your car, then your gonna end up with junk results. Of course the prices are attractive, the stuff is made in China. Have some pride dude.

Okay, so its definately BLOX that is the good knock-off brand, not OBX. I mean the piece looks like your average SSAutoChrome, but I figured I'd ask. I've told him the best route to go is the custom header area available on eBay as well, but I don't know what kind of gains over the stock, top mount, or other turbo headers the ramhorn will give. I know the more equal length the pipes are the better, and fluid flow is simply equal to velocity * cross-sectional area, so the bigger pipes would help.....

However, I doubt a 300whp build warrants a crazy header...or would it make a low boost setup way more efficient and make more power with less boost than the stock type turbo header...
