Default greddy turbo question here??!!

I am posting this for a freind.........He has a 95 civic ex with the greddy turbo kit.....running 6psi

He had the kit on his car for 3-4 months and it worked perfect......now it is running lean when he goes into 3rd gear............We checked the injectors, and the greddy black box and they are fine. It seems as though by the time he gets to 3rd gear he runs out of fuel pressure in the rail and the pump cant keep up with the turbo.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

he has the stock fuel pump and venom injectors (10% over stock oem replacements)........The thing is that it worked fine for 3-4 months and now it runs lean at high rpm in 3rd gear....it seems ok in 1st and 2nd but after that it starts to loose power and we can't tell if its detonating or not. Is it possible that the fuel could run low in just 3rd and be fine prior. Maybe the pump isn't what it used to be 3to4 months ago. If I do upgrade to a inline pump will strain the o.e. pump even more if it is pulling fuel through it. The greddy turbo kit is supposed to work fine with stock fuel setup. At least thats what the greddy techs say!!

he really needs to upgrade to either a Walbro 255lph, or a bosche inline. the fact he made it this long w/out problems is kinda amazing. What he has is not a reliable fuel set up for a FI honda.

If for instance the fuel pump is getting weaker will a inline cause it to break even sooner and what happens after the intank fp breaks. Does the inline work as effectively or will we be in the same situation?

I don't think his intank is dying out. if he is running an FMU, is may be getting stuck....causing it not to rise the rate accurately. Also, has he changed his vaccum lines lately? are there any vac leaks?

no an inline pump will not kill the intank sooner, it shouldn't affect it at all.

There is no fmu. There is only 6psi and supposedly the greddy black or blue box talkes care of the added fuel. Bassically it tricks your car into thinking its running cold all the time so that the vehicle runs rich. I think that the pump isn't keeping up because 3rd gear doesn't rev as fast as first or second so it revs longer through third at higher rpms and the engine is under more load.

no FMU, stock fuel pump, and slightly bigger injectors...this is a terrible way to manage fuel for turbo.

your right...the stock pump cannot come close to keeping up. he needs an FMU, and an inline pump. Like I said before...the fact is was working before is dumb luck.
