how to tell if i have a vtec head
hey my boy just bought a 97 coupe with a b16 swap.but he says he doesnt hear the vtec kick in,the car has oil.is it possible for anyone to put a ls head on a b16 block and slap a vtec solenoid just for show..?thanks
no..........read the block stamp and to make sure its a b16,, and not something like b18b/b18a......vtec is not that loud though on a stock b16 motor

he thinks we noobs to this ****, yea check the head bro if it has a vtec valve cover then u got a vtec head make sure ur block is stamped b16a, etc this is how it should look like

yes it fit but theres no point to put a ls head on a b16 block you will def. expletive something up big time.. adding a nonvtec head onto a vtec block??
plus if u have vtec the head on top of the valve cover would be stamped in be letters VTEC

You can do a B16 head on LS block. You need a different crank or rods or something like that. It's been done a billion times.

Edit: The thing I said about different crank was mentioned in an LS/VTEC thread, the said combination was questioned. Should have read it before I stated
