Tire Question: Azenis vs. P Zero Breakaway Characteristics
I have 16" wheels and I am looking for Summer tires for the street. I am going to go with either 205/45 P Zeros or 215/45 16 Azenis. I have heard that the Azenis sticks better than the P Zero, but I have also heard that it gets sloppy and imprecise at the limit. I know from experience that the P Zeros are smooth and precise all the way to breakaway. Has anyone used both and can you tell me if the Azenis is really worse in terms of breakaway characteristics? I don't care as much about ultimate grip as I do about the ability to use it; I like a tire that I can play with that won't bite back. The Pirellis are about 3 lbs lighter, which I like...
Mike, for some reason I'm starting not to like the Azenis at the limit ( I have only pushed them on the street) but the just don't feel right to me. I wish I had a second set of stockers to compare them with... But over all they (azenis) are not bad but the tire does feel a bit wobolie under the car.... there for not sending the right signals up to me. IF you could afford to try the PZero then go for it. But be sure to let me know what your thoughts are.
Not a great review, but On Nov 11th I'll have a track review for everyone.

November 11, dang man, I could only dream of racing during winter season.
-Tommy who is looking for a solid set of sticky tires (ie. strong side walls).

If you are happy with P-Zeros then stick with them. They are a great tire.
You might also want to consider the new Yokohama Parada Spec II

Bigger. Badder. Better.
Yokohama's Parada Spec-2 gives street tuners the grip they want and the control they need. Parada Spec-2 applies the latest in silca compounding technology for an unmatched level of treadwear, acceleration, dry and wet grip and braking ability.
New 19" sizes allowing inch-up rim diameters to Plus 5 fitments
Reinforced sidewall construction allows for greater load capacity on shorter sidewalls
Low void shoulders increases rubber-to-road contact for sharper cornering and less twitchiness
Helical long grooves add stability and confident handling
Solitary Circumferential Groove efficiently guides water away from the tread area
Rim protector bar guards wheels against damage

User Trey had the A520 Yokohamas and now has the Azenis on his car.
From what he has said it seems he likes the Azenis better.
I just mounted my Azenis on Friday and have already auto-X'd with them today and they are BAD-***!!!
If you want to pay nearly twice the money for a tire that might not even perform as good as the Falken Azenis, then be my guest.
There was a guy with a durometer at the SCCA event and he checked the Azenis against a few R compound tires and the Azenis actually fared great against them from what he said. Not sure how it worked but he said that from his durmeter thing they Azenis exibited better grip(?) than some other auto-X tires out there.
As for the Paradas:
WTF? Are you guys serious? Unless theses "Spec 2" ones are tons better don't expect much out of the Paradas. The Paradas I know of SUCK ***** in terms of grip and wet-weather, but then again I'm not "Mr. Tire" or anything.
Falkens get a huge thumbup from me, and I've driven on some good tires on my car and others like Yokohama AVS-Intermediates, A032R, Potenza Pole Position S-03, etc. and the Azenis still stick out as being the best IMO.
I flogged the **** out of my car at the auto-X today and the tires responded awesome. I never lost control of the car even when I purposely entered a corner really fast or brakes really late, or got into the throttle early exiting a turn.
