Default azenis or t1-s for auto-x??

what would be the better street tires fo auto-x? or maybe another street tire, please don't say an r-compound tire cause i'll need a street tire for next year.

If you are competitive in a street tire class, the Azenis is the way to go. If you are a novice, or dont compete very often - the T1-S will be superior in wet traction for daily driving. Potenza S-03's and the Kuhmo Ecsta MX are good as well.

The Azenis *BLOW AWAY* the T1-S in autox. I owned both, I tried both, no comparison whatsoever.

Granted, this was 195/55-15 for the Toyos vs 205/50-15 for the Azenis, however I dont think that made the huge difference here.

Azenis = far more dry grip

If its a rainy autocross, the T1-S would do well I bet though.

Azenis. I hesitate to recommend them, only because I want them all for myself MWAHHAHA!

Someone here was kind enough to point out the vast majority of the top national competitors using Azenis. That was proof enough for me. Plus, at their price its easier to burn through them.

As long as there's no standing water the azenis are fine in the wet and grip very well.

In the last 3 months I have autocrossed cars on Yoko AVS, Bridgestone SO-3, Bridgestone RE-71, Toyo T1-S, and Azenis. In the dry. Here is my ranking of performance:

Azenis (best by a good margin)
SO-3
RE-71
AVS
T1-S (worst, by a good margin)

All will do great with tread in the wet at autocross speeds. It's only above 60 MPH that you need to worry about the tread design on wet performance. Below 2/32", all will suck in the rain to some degree, and at some speed. At 0/32", a tire is scary in a wet slalom with a little standing water.

Just my experiences.

Even in some standing (puddling/running) water, Azenis kick *** at autocross speeds. We had a drencher of an event recently, and all the drivers running them thought they were phenomenal. This was on an undulating surface with streams and puddles everywhere up to, I dunno, maybe 1/4" deep.

All the "horror stories" I have heard about Azenis in the wet have been in reference to driving at speed on the highway in frog strangler storms. Yeah, there are probably better tread designs for that than the gigantic tread blocks on the Azenis.

Just passing on observations. Maybe someone out there has better data.

in the rain, azenis' were really bad not because they have crappy water channeling- but because the water keeps them cooler. there was a huge temp. difference from my normal autocross temp, and my handling suffered- a lot- and i got a lot of bad snap oversteer. . . .

Depends on what your needs are biased towards. More grip, less life, more frequent replacement: Azenis.

Less grip, relatively longer life, less replacement, more of a street tire: T1-S.

I really like my Azenis, I cant in good judgement pay 200 for one tire so this kinda fills that gap.

For autoxing there really good for drag racing not so really good.
