cel code 6 water temperature sensor?? searched
My stock 93 civic ex with a d16z6 will not start. We tried a different dizzy, replaced the battery, looked at all the fuses and they are perfect. The car cranks but will not fire. Check engine light is code 6. Water temperture sensor. never heard of that. Where is it located and would that cause my car to not start? I called the old owner and he said his friend took a amp out of the trunk and left positive power line open so it sparked the trunk and died. I just bought the car and it wouldn't start the next day. Please lgive me a hand I am stompped.
Is the distributor getting power? Since 'no spark', let's chase the problem back through the system. As for the temp. sensor....you have two that I'm aware of. I'm not familiar with this code (#6) so I'm just going off my current knowledge. The first is located on the side of the head just below the distributor. It is a single 'nipple' with one wire going to it. The second is near or on the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is located towards the fire wall. Follow the lower cooling hose from the radiator and it connects to the housing. This is a 2 wire pin plug. One of these sensors controls the fan(s) to kick on (I think the 2 wire) and the other controls the gauge cluster temp gauge so you know how hot the car is.
