ECT code (Water temp) help
Just got finished my B18C install and the car is throwing a cel ECT (water temp sensor code 6). My question is would the motor start with this code normaly? Cause my motor wont turn over and I just wanna know if this is the issue or is its somthing bigger.
Also, is the code there because of a bad sensor or low coolant level?
Thanks for any info.

A bad ECT sensor should not prevent the engine from starting.
Is the starter cranking the engine? Do you have spark and is the fuel pump priming?

Re: ECT code (Water temp) help
So Im pretty sure the engine is not getting spark, I cranked the motor again and took out one of the plugs, looked into the bore and saw a drop of fuel on the piston. Plus the plug felt cold to the touch right after cranking. Ron, I wanna try your method of checking for spark next, is there any danger in holding the wire and plug out while the car is cranking?

Don't worry. Holding only the rubber part of the plug wire insulates your hand from electric shock as long as you ground the plug's thread against the metallic valve cover. You can wear rubber gloves as extra protection if you are worried.

Re: ECT code (Water temp) help
Ok I found 2 wires that were slightly de-pinned fromt the socket on the dizzy and I wasnt getting any spark, pushed them back in and the plugs are making a weak orange colour spark. Car still wont start but now it sounds like it wants to turn over and just isnt getting there. Maybe the engine is a little flooded right now.
