No Reverse!?
For some reason when I try to put my car in reverse, it will not go in. It sounds and feels like it has gone into the gear but when I let out of the clutch it goes nowheres and makes a slight grinding noise. The noise isn't loud but I can still hear it. I'm thinking it is the gear itself and I need to replace it. Every other gear works fine with no problems so I'm guessing it is just the gear. I have put new tranny fluid in the transmission and that didn't work so the only thing that I can think of is the gear. Has this happen to anyone else and could anyone help me out with this? Heres a link to what I think I might need its part number 6: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/d...ch=no

it could be that you are not completely locked into reverse yet. The gear doesn't just "strip". It is non-synchronized, so it will wear on the meeting edges, which is why, with higher mileage, you may need to put into a forward motion gear first, like what migs said. When going into R, make sure you hear a lot click(it's the reverse lockout mechanism shifting). Maybe even try with the engine off first, and start the car after.

That might be my problem, but 5th gear has no problems going into and my reverse just will not go in at all. It feels like it is about to go and then it just stops at point and wont go in the whole way. I have put all my might into putting it in reverse but no go. So maybe it is one side of the synchro.
I had that problem, I thought it was my transmission but it was actully my Pressure plate, a piece of my clutch got wedged up and wouldnt let my pressure plate fully depress.. might not be that but something for you to look for when you pull the clutch apart.
well if the 5th side of your 5/r sleeve is not damaged then you will have no issues going into 5th. The synchro hub/sleeve tends to be a very common issue and most of the time when you totally lose a gear it is because of the hub/sleeve. The teeth get rounded and it will let the hub slide through one way but not the other therefore engaging 5th but not reverse.
Do some searching you will see what i'm talking about.
