Default anyone ever have a problem with engine bogging or backfire?

just swapped h23 to h22 but im still running h23 ecu. Car was running fine until just recently. The car started having trouble gasing and when i tried to gas to keep going the car started backfiring and i couldnt get very far. Now when i start up the car the car just keeps backfiring and sometimes it starts idling funny. At first we thought it was the plug wires because they werent giving enough spark, but i dont think that was the problem anymore. We also think it might be too much fuel pumping into the motor. The motor was running fine for about a month, we did compression check as well and all 4 cylinders were good. Any ideas?

Wait so you have an H23 ECU? No VTEC? Dude that's crazy. An H23 ECU would be pumping more fuel into the engine because it's assuming the cylinders have 2. 3l rather than 2.2l.

Why don't you just buy an H22A P13 ECU? Then you would have VTEC, which is the reason you bought the engine right?

well im actually waiting for my freakin p13 thats y, so you think over time the h23 ecu made it pump too much fuel? that would sound kind of strange thought because h22 has vtec so i would assume that p13 would make it pump out more fuel than the h23 ecu

Waiting for the P13...that's too bad...

I'm thinking over time your plugs have become so fouled up from running rich that it's having a compunding effect on the engine performance. Pul your plugs..they should be verrrry black. At first you had good spark but now you don't...

VTEC would pump more fuel/fp but that's only when you're in VTEC. You can't run the VTEC cam until you get the P13, so you're just running the low cam which would have substantially less fuel requirements above 5000 rpms, and less than an H23 all around.

If you install the plug wires incorrectly (not matching it with the correct cylinder and the distributer) then it will cause all the symtons you are saying. You may want to double check to make sure you it is hooked up correctly. I bet that is the problem.

If you had a V-AFC or S-AFC you could lean out your fuel mixture...

Hp.com is down or I would find you pic of the distributor and wires...

Actually...the H22 has bigger injectors compared to the H23, so therefore the H23 ecu will deliver LESS fuel.

Get the P13.

that's right.
bottom left = 1, bottom right = 2, top left = 3, top right = 4.
