Simulating low offset wheels with spacers

As the years passed, I noticed that more and more Honda enthusiasts have started to go with the "flush"/low offset look. While I do admit it looks quite good, I'm not too sure about it's performance function, but that's another story.
My question is, do S2000 owners ever "simulate" the look of a low offset wheel by throwing spacers on? I'm sure it could be done with OEM wheels too, but I haven't heard/seen any. With my limited knowledge about offset/camber adjustments, are you able to put on a 5-10mm spacer while using your stock AP1/AP2 wheels? There's literally a 1+ inch area where the wheel/tire ends and the fender is. I can't imagine there would be any negative affects, are there? Also, at what point would you need extended studs?

People have done it, is it recommended? No not really, it will affect your handling.
If you are to buy wheels, You should avoid spacers at all costs if the appropriate offset is offered.

There is a specific amount of threads that the lugs need to have contact with, though I cannot recall what that requirement is.
I recently bought wheels that are not meant to fit the S2000, but I ended up loving the wide-track stance that it gave it, both visually and for the performance that it provides. The car handles with much more confidence than it did with the stock wheel setup. I don't regret anything about it.
As for adding spacers...I would do it as long as you don't go beyond the minimum thread requirement.

u can only do 2 parts of it..
low offset gives u flush , a wider track and on most wheels a concave/agressive look
with spacers you are can get it flush look and wider track... but u will need the extecded studs and hubcentric spacers to keep the load where it needs to be and not on the studs....

Yes, this is true, I totally forgot about the hubcentric rings. Do you know what the limit is as to how large of a spacer you can use before you need extended studs? I would imagine you would need extended ones for nearly every size of spacer (stock studs are not long at all).

By popular request:

The wheels are SportMax 962's.
FRONT: 18" x 7.5" with a 38mm offset / 215/35/18
REAR: 18" x 8.5" with a 35mm offset / 225/40/18
Rear fenders rolled, rear bumper bolt relocated back, no rub on Eibach Springs.
Front needed no alterations. Perfect clearance, never rubs.

4-5mm max on the spacer is what i would do....

I don't mind the ride height, but those ties are soooooo narrow. 225 in the rear!! I'd be struggling for traction with those puny tires. LOL

What tires would you/want to run? What do you have that would create a traction problem that I do not have?

x8.5 with a +35 u can stuff a 245 in there...
the fenders are rollded already and tab is relocated just give it some camber and your set...
i had some 225's in the back once for a short time and boy it was SCARYYYYYYYY

hehe...maybe your track wasn't wide enough. The car with the stock wheels was scary, and the day after I put this wheel/tire combo on I left for my 2 week vacation and drove 4,500 miles. Went through the Tail of the Dragon 4 times and Blue Ridge Pkwy and all the other great roads...never slid a single time.

How about the Dunlop 225's (205 fronts) that I took off the car? Were those marked wrong as well?

Probably not. The previous owner probably didn't realize the real size is 245.
