Default Accidental down shift =\

I was being a retard in my prelude the other night flyin up the road and when i went to shift from 3rd to 4th i went to 2nd , at 90mph......it shreded the power steering belt, and my clutch petal was stuck to the floor, i reached down and tugged on it and it poped right up, the clutch still works fine and there seems to be no prob in the trans or motor, im so glad i didnt send anything through the block , anyway, i was wondering if anyone knows why my pedal stuck to the floor....i scared me so bad.

thx

that would be your master cylinder... check for leaks and stuff...

oh and did you go completely into gear? or was it that you popped it half way in and it made a high pitched grind noise? in either case, get a compression test done...

It went all the way into gear, but ive warped valves in other cars b4 and it didnt fill like i warped any, It still runs fine if not better b/c i have no power steering, but i put a big white sheet under tonite when i parked it so i will know for sure if it is leaking in the morning.

Oh, it scared me sooooo bad, i only bought the car like 5 days ago, the belt didnt bother me so bad, i could imagine it would jump off when the rpms jumped from like 4 to 9k in a split second, but when i went to put the car back into 5th, and i put my foot on the clutch pedal and it was just sittin on the floor, i about pissed in my pants, but it does seem to be running ok, i just really hope nothing is on that sheet in the morning.....it makes me fill sick

thanks for the info tho

did the same thing, slightly bent all my exhaust valves and a few intake valves, and blew out all my lma's.. and i also nuked my clutch.

As long as you dont have trouble starting it or getting in gear, your fine..

i managed to bend a few of my valves w/o misshifting.. does that make me a failure? probably wasn't too wise to hit 135 w/ a 172k motor eh?

or downshift. You only down shift from third to second if your under 40 mph, not 90mph lol JK

I'd still get a compression test done. Than atleast if you find a bent valve, you can fix it b4 you over rev again.

Its not that i dont know how to shift, its that i havnt been drivin this car but maybe a week..... and i had a bottle in the cup holder which manged to make me angle my elbow upward while i was shifting back in to 2nd and 4th, and its hard to make a straight back line from 3rd to 4th with your arm above your head

i would do a leak down test first, no point in waisting time on a compression test because if you find something with the leak down test you can pin point the problem right away.

i'm not plannin' to do that again w/ my swapped h22a anytime soon until i get some better valvetrain components. not to mention a manual tensioner conversion. auto tensioner ftl.. that was one pita ordeal i am not willing to repeat..
