b16a integra
I currently have a b18a1 and I would like to know if swapping it to a b16a(complete) if that would be decent. My friend says not to since im losing quite a bit of tq but I'm not looking to do drags and stuff. Just a nice daily driver. It's a db1... Would this be a waste?
im still learnin more and more on this stuff yet ot wutever but i was havin the EXACT same dilemma wit my DA. i wus thinkin jus get some good cams and things to make up for the vtec and u would be coo. but idk for sure...
i have a JDM B18C in mine and its decent at best. im about to slap a t3/t4 on it because it just isnt what i thought a swap would be. if you have bigger plans (and i dont mean an intake and S2S1 cams) such as boost or ***** to the wall all motor, then sure it wouldnt be bad. but as a daily driver, a B16 in a DA sucks. i had a chance to ride in one at the nashville HT meet in july and it was SLOW. my stock DA could at least pull even with it. go big or go home. it isnt worth the trouble of pulling a motor out and all the work associated with a swap. trust me.
edit: 99-00 Si's are slow. 15.5's are slow. 15's are the reason we get so much **** for having hondas. make it fast or dont bother.

your stuck in the same place i am. what you need to do is sit back, relax, and think about what you want your car to do in a years time.
great deals on b16's engines, turbo kits, and other toys will always be floating around...so theres no need to rush...enjoy your ride...even if previous post is convinced it's "slow"

I wont be making my decision for a while since winter is around the bend here. I still don't know if I'll end up getting a DC2 which is what I prefer or keep this DB1. I just had loads of fun in my friend's EG which has a B16 2nd gen swap. Anyways we'll see what kind of damage mother nature will do to my car after the salty roads and killer winter storms. Might end up being my beater for my DC2
?? But it's cause it's sooooooo clean. It got a paintjob a year and a half ago and the engine bay is gorgeous. Anyways.... only time will tell

For a daily Id prefer an LS over a b16. Even if people say that its just like a '99-00 si, EM1s are slow. They struggle to hit 15s stock. A good driver on a good day at a good track MIGHT hit a mid 15 given very good conditions. Otherwise for the most part the fastest they usually run is high 15s. Most are in 16s just like an integra LS.

A mid-15 second car isn't slow. A stock Civic CX with 3 other passengers and a packed suitcase in it is slow. And moderate 1/4 mile times are not the reason that many people dislike the Honda tuning crowd. A combination of rice, the "street racer" mentality, and the generally poor attitudes of many owners are some of the actual reasons.
I assumed that the original poster was simply looking to replace a tired motor, and as such a B16A would be perfectly fine for a "nice daily driver". Certainly if he's looking for a real performance upgrade, the more economical approach would be some sort of forced induction using the existing engine.

Yeah I'm really getting pressured into getting a turbo since my engine is "low compression" and very clean (words from the friend). But I'm concerned with the mileage. (207xxx Kilometers roughly ~129xxx Miles). Would it be risky?

Assuming it's still making good compression and isn't showing any real signs of wear, you could certainly run a well-tuned, relatively low-boost turbo setup that will make decent power and be quite reliable.

An EM1 feels very slow daily driving. It doesnt feel any different than having a sohc when its at low RPMs which is why Id suggest an LS for a daily. And in most cases Ive seen, EM1s get worst gas mileage than any stock integra.
I'm bout to pick up a 1991 Integra with B16 for $ 700 bucks from a friend...Going to need a clutch but still around for a grand overall...Should be interesting...Having had a 1993 Integra LS, i'll see how much difference will be...
