Ok my boss and I have a debate over the d16z6 motor. I say that the 1.6L Sohc Vtec motor came in the 92-95 civic ex/si and in the 93-95 del sol si. My boss on the other hand says that honda put that motor into the civic and del sol in 1994 and up, and that there was no 1.6L Sohc Vtec in the 92-93 civics and del sols. I searched and found some info but i want this thread to be the final evidence. i need your help guys! any feedback would be good, and if anyone have any links to back this up, please post it..thanks!
Your boss is wrong.
The OBD-I D16Z6 came in 1992-1995 Honda Civic Si 3dr and 1993-1995 Honda Civic EX 2/4dr models. It was also in the 93-95 Del Sol Si.
The 96-00 Civic EX 2/4dr models came with an OBD-II D168Y, as did the 96-97 Del Sol Si.

It was in the '93-'95 Civic EX coupe, '92-'95 EX sedan, '92-'95 Civic Si hatch and the '93-'95 del Sol Si.
Here's the part number and vehicles the Z6 block is available in in the US market. This is the Honda EPC.

What's throwing your boss off is that the 1992-1993 D16Z6 foind in the 92-93 Civic EX/Si and 1993 Del Sol Si DID NOT SAY "VTEC" ON THE VALVECOVER.
I owned a 1992 Civic Si with the VTEC D16Z6 in it and the valvecover was just black with a centered "H" emblem/logo, so yeah it confuses some people.
Bottom line is that it most certainly is a VTEC engine.

Why? He's incorrect, plain and simple. The question has been answered, and the "debate" settled.
