What US cars came with a DOHC Vtec setups? I know the del sols had vtec and the civic ex but what motor did they have? Would swapping a del sol vtec into my non vtec del sol make it sell quicker? any takers on one with or without it?

Civic ex did not come with dohc motors. They had a D16Z6 motor which is sohc. Civic si coupes had a B16 motor in there. One of the del sol had a B16 as well.

si, prelude, integra, and del slow. ex's have sohc. 92-95 ex is d16z6. what year is ur car?

I have a 93 del sol si but has a d15y? motor. I'd have to check engine code again to make sure. I was thinking of fixing all the lil problems and sellin it off. so the si model had the DOHC and the rest got the shaft. thanks

i think that theres a sohc vtec del sol, but im not entirely sure. i dont really know all that much about what model motors were put in del sols. put a d16z6 in there and boost it. urs isnt a vtec is it?

no it isnt. I bought it with the engine whored out. I was thinking about putting the d16z i guess and put about 6psi on it. then sell it. thanks

i knew there was a sohc vtec. i just didnt know what it was called. theres just too many damn different models for me to remember.

thanks for the engine code breakdown. I'll start looking for the d16z i think for now just to have it back to almost stock. Anybody want a del sol !!
