Default odd knock sensor problem

The cel only comes on when at idle. It doesnt act up any other time. does this sound like a typical knock sensor problem and if so whats the best fix. thanks

Might want to look at the stickies at the top to find out what your CEL code is for, instead of guessing.

Is it possible it could be in the wiring? Im planning on chipping the ecu in the future anyhow.

yes, that is very possible. nothing is perfect and everything breaks sooner or later.

in your situation, i'd expect that the resistance wouldn't affect the signal unless it is extremely high. I work with electronics on a daily basis. All it really takes is one wire to get cut by an abrasive part of your chassis.

did you use shielded wire?
did you solder or simply twist it?
and did you shrink wrap it?

i had the same issue because i didn't shrink wrap it, someone told me the wire had to be shielded or something, i figured it was worth the effort so i went ahead and shrinkwrapped it and its worked fine ever since.

hey instrument, you think this will work on a F22b engine ? i've had no luck so far. i did it with so many different types of wire already, except shielded. maybe i should really see if there is a voltage going through it. do you have a pic handy of your setup ?
