Default D16y8(turbo) vs jdm-B16a2 (SiRII)

i have two option's that i can do

1.go with a 96-98spec JDM B16A2

2.turbo my D16y8??

i know that i can get around 176whp on stock internal's @7psi with a turbo y8 but then again i can get 220whp with a b16a2 on 7psi w/edelbrok kit..

1) turbo being unreliable is a common misconceotion. It really depends on the quality, installation, and TUNE.

2) if you have the money, why the hell wouldn't you go with the B? If it makes more power, and both will be boosted, then do whatever you'd rather have.

A boosted D16y8 is not more/less reliable than a boosted B.

that's true.

but the thing is that they both will be automatic.
and if i do the JDM b16a2 swap it wont be turbo'd for a year or so. but i know that the b16 crank power is at 170hp but im not sure of the actuall whp. i mean 220whp would be REALLY nice whenever i do turbo it, but with the edelbrock kit on the Y8 i could get close to 170whp out of the box. but it will cost more than the swap will from hmotorsonline.

cuz i think im gonna go with the B but im not for sure yet. and for unreliable i meant it for an automatic. sorry i worded it wrong. but i have heard thing's like shiftshock and spiking are common for auto's that are turbo'd??

Boost the D... its all about the tune.... and if you beat on it. i've had my BONE STOCK Z6 with 180,000 miles boosted since june and its still running good!

all i did was ARP head studs and a cometic HG and shes good as new.... did i mention 12PSI as a race setting?

yea, but like im kinda on a budget and i'd really would not like to go over three grand. cuz the swap will be near 2500shipped and the turbo kit from edelbrok is around 3300$ i cant find it anywhere cheaper. and i dont buy anything off ebay. got burned a few times..lol

but have you heard of everything working okay with auto tranny's?

but also i think with the turbo kit from E-bok it doesnt Have to be tuned. but i know a few guy's who have it done just for the hell of it. but i also travel from kentucky to florida alot so i cant get broke down eaither that would suck.. but it would still be nice to have a SiR under tha hood. then later on i could boost it or whatever ya know..
