didn't see this in any other axle thread so here goes:

went to change out the passenger side axle in my 90 crx dx. got everything out using this write up as guide https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1 now i'm trying to put the new axle in and i'm stuck. i couldn't get the axle to seat in the transmission no matter how hard i pushed on it or anything. so i decided i'd pull it out again and maybe put a thin coating of grease on the splines to help ease it in. no dice. the axle appears to be stuck. i can't push it any further into the transmission, nor can i pull it back out to grease it up. any ideas, or am i just completely screwed? even had a second person with more mechanical experience than myself try it, and he couldn't get it to move either.

as always, any help you guys can give is greatly appreciated. btw, it's a stock d15b2 with an si tranny if that makes any difference.

 

Maybe you have an 88 si tranny they use I think its a 23 spline axel and all the other years use a 26 spline

 

i actually counted the splines before i tried to put it in just for that reason and they're both 26 spline axles. is it possible it went in crooked and it's caught on that retaining ring that holds the axle into the transmission?

That is a possibility.

 

any idea how to get it out without damaging anything?

 

there is a ring on the end of the axle that could prevent it from going in. try to tighten it up a lil.

 

problem is that the axle is stuck partially inside the tranny and won't move farther forward (into the tranny) or backwards (out of the tranny). it's stuck and so far i haven't been able to move it at all. what i need to know is if anyone has any tips, tricks, etc. that i can try to get the axle back out of the transmission.
