Default p72 obd2 work with obd2 ls w/out harness?

i am about to buy a 97' gsr ecm(ecu) for my 97' ls until i swap motors and want to know if i will need a harness or will it just plug in easily?
also, what is the difference besides rev limiter?

Yes it will run your car fine. Unfortuantely you will need to run the wires for VTEC. This means you will have to pin your ecu plugs and run those wires to the proper places, which can be done a few different ways.
The main difference in the two ecu's would be the fact that the P72 will allow you to run vtec, if you have made the necessary changes to your harness. So to be honest, it is kind of silly to run a gsr ecu on an ls, unless you have some sort of vtec engine in the car. Good luck with everything!!!

would it hurt anything because vtec isnt hooked up?

and will the cel solely be on for vtec only???

i've read it's better timing for the engine andbetter fuel economy...true?

I have never heard that...but it could be true I suppose. I am guessing it may run rich though...

I doubt it. The ECU is for a different engine.

i hear you but my main concern is can it cause an damage or mess up any timing in the engine? i would really like to replace the ecu now instead of later if it's better, or won't do any damage

I have seen it done before and as far as I knwo it will not mess up your engine, but why not just wait until you swap teh car to switch the ecu? It takes literally 5 minutes...
