Is there a way to clean the inside of the motor without tearing it down
I just picked up a JDM B16 swap and it looks decent except when i pulled my valve cover it was all red inside, like they had been running penzoil through it. I got a small spot and it cleans up pretty easy. BUt i dont wanna have to pull the head and sent it off to have it cleaned. I just dont like having that looking that way. I want it to look like my other heads.

I want it to look like this

Seafoam is great. Just don't drive around right away, unless you want to laugh your *** off...
...and attract a lot of attention from local authorities.

Try running Auto-Rx or Seafoam as per the manufacturer's instructions.
And the Pennzoil comment is nothing more than perpetuating a myth.

the color has nothing to do with a particular brand or make of oil, it is because the motor was neglected/high mileage and the oil wasnt changed at the proper intervals
use seafoam and as long as its compression/leak down is good i wouldnt worry so much about how it "looks"
