what is a good replacement for the stock woofer? i've never bothered to replace it or upgrade it and it just crossed my mind today. it's not blown or anything, but i'd like a bit more base without getting a box.

 

see if JL audio makes anything in a 6x9. All of my stereo set ups weer JL and I was very happy with them. Well, I was happy until I realized that speakers add weight.

 

oh, forget it then........ a few extra ounces.... i dunno bout that......

 

I just finished this little project, which uses a JL AUdio 6W0 6.5" subwoofer in a .125 cubic foot enclosure:

 

hold on a sec. Is this something that honda did or did you guys do that as a custom set up? I'm getting rid of my 2 10's in the trunk b/c of weight and I still want good bass inside. got any good ideas? what do you guys think about tubes (bazooka)? or where can i get a sub like that picture?

 

Kicker makes a free air subwoofer in 6x9 and it fits perfectly in the stock location. It definitely sounds better than the stock woofer but not by much. I think the Kicker needs more power to take full advantage of it. My stock woofer was blown so I had to replace it.

VTEC 4th gens have a single 6x9 woofer mounted between the rear seats, powered by a small factory amplifier. The pic I posted is a custom unit that takes advantage of the space normally used for the 6x9

 

would a better amplifier do the job?
i don't need a loud *** woofer, just enough to enjoy the beats...

 

I think the Kicker needs about 75 watts RMS power. . .I also think it has been discontinued.

 

ok, i've got a 93 base model that used to have an f22 in it. it's vtec now. i was wondering if it is possible that i could find that middle seat and put in in my 93 lude??? and if so is anyone parting out a piece like this?

 

The 6x9 bracket and cover will bolt into any forth gen Prelude. I have a bracket I want to get rid of, but no cover for it.

 

is the bracket the piece that sits between the two back cushions?

What exactly did you use to shape that raised section? Do you have any other pictures of the install? I've been interested in upgrading a little past stock, but not a full blown custom enclosure to fill up my trunk. Thanks a lot.

well, at first I just yanked that little ****** they called a "sub" and used it as a port, now I've pulled the entire back seat assembley and I'm seriously contemplating turning IT into the system. I figure between the two RF Punch Power 1100's and the two RF Punch Power 12's and a little fiberglass work, I should be able to come up with something pretty damn loud.

 

the stock amp is ****. you def need an aftermarket amp to power the kicker. i bought my kicker from Corey on this board. its hard as hell to find. search yahoo for "f6x9c" and you may find some sites selling it.

 

How good is the Kicker with a better amp? Worth spending the money?

I used to have two ecslipse 12's and an amp. Now my friend uses my speakers and amp...Had to make room for my nitrous bottle....took the back seat out cause I was too cheap to buy a remote bottle opener. I know on ebay for a while someone was making what you have a 6.5 speaker with an indiglo symbol on it.
