Default Sub Box

I'm trying to get subs for my car right now but I have a few questions about the sub box. If anyone can answer any of them I would appreciated thanx.

1. Does weight matter? Not for the performance of the car but for the audio cuz obviously if I wanted to seriously race i would take the subs out) Does heavier sound better than lighter or vice-versa?

2. What is MDF? Which is better, 5/8" or 3/4"? (this is kinda like weight too i guess)

3. Volume... is bigger always better?1 cu ft or 1.25 cu ft?

4. Finally, slanted or non-slanted? Would subs sound better in my 5th gen Accord slightly slanted up or face striaght out of the trunk? If that doesn't matter than what do you guys think looks better?

Thanx for all your help guys!... getting subs is so much work, so many decisions!

weight does not affect the subwoofer's performance

MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard. its basically dust packed tight together. thickness depends on application. the thicker the board, the more ridged the box is going to be. i use 3/4 for all subs (although i regret it when i use it on less-performance subs)

3. Volume... is bigger always better?1 cu ft or 1.25 cu ft?

depends on the sub and your taste in music.

The thicker the product of wood you use, the less chance there is for flexing of the enclosure.

The smaller the enclosure, the more SPL you'll get from it, but it won't play as deep as the larger enclosure.

Placement of the subs and how they sound in that placement varies from car to car, so you have to make that decision on your own.
