my first build, need some specs.
Okay soo, Im gonna do my first build here in the next few weeks and need some specs. I have a helms, but it doesnt give any one value just a renge to be within. Im just doin an easy stock rebuild with some high comp pistons, reusin the rods and crank and a stock hone.H22a obviously... what I wanna know is what I should have the shop gap my rings at, top, 2nd and oil rings. Also on the main and rod bearings I just got a set of acls, but upon removal of the previous one all the colors are different from each main and rod journal. I know that is probably so all the clearances are consisitent across the board. But from what I heard the acls are supposed to mimic the size of green oems, right. So I was gonna just have the shop mic all the crank journals and measure the dia of all caps and rod bore's. Is that the right thing to have done or something else. Cuz based on those measurements and acct.ing for the acls to have a thickness similar to green the math should give the respective clearances. Shooting for .015, but how tight is too tight?? .01 and no more??
So thats all I really need to know. Im not going ***** out on this motor being Im on a budget and its my first build. Just thought Id throw some high comp pistons in since I was in there and just get a lil extra pop of hp. Normal bolt ons as well...THX

You can't just 'throw' high comp pistons in there without resleeving. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=416069
running forged pistons means you cant run honda specs. They have differenct expansion rates which call for different clearances.
ACL's are good as long as the they fit the specs that are called for in the helms.
the helms has all the bearing ranges that you need located in the cylinder block section of it.

ACL's are made to be in the middle of the honda spec (green).

Ensure that the shop you have doing the honing knows exactly how to do it. The procedure is not run of the mill, requires specialized tooling and equipment, and is a lot more labor intensive than honing iron sleeves.
There's certainly nothing wrong with shooting for the middle of each spec.
