Default New CR

I just test drove the new S2000 CR. I am buying it as soon as I'll get my last paycheck.

I specially liked the new short shifter, the shift throws feels even better in this one. It feels a bit more sporty with the new suspension and with the big spoiler that you can see in the rearview mirror :D

Getting an all black on black. The hardtop is really easy to take of by your self also.

Did they change something about the top to make it easy for one person to take off?? I wouldn't risk it with mine.

Well when I drove it, the gear changes feels alot smoother and shorter, atleast compared to my ap1.

The hard top is really light, but I am pretty strong and big too, thats why the dealer let me try to take it of my self.

I will still keep my old ap1, don't wanna get rid of it because I want to keep it as a car I can have fun with at the track.

they actually did make the throw shorter. i noticed this at the homecoming meet when i got inside of the cr. I have an 04 transmission, and the CR transmission is even shorter of a throw then then 04 transmission. And the 04 transmission has an even shorter throw then the 00-03 transmissions.

id be interested for comparison purposes to see what the new suspension feels like.

theres a guy i race with, who knows his ****... he autox's on national level with an S for several years and now does quite well in a Solstice... but he said to me last race:

"the CR reverted back to the old spring rates. every year honda kept softening springs in the S's, and the CR is a bit lower, but on comparable spring rates to the 00/01 cars. thats why nearly all national s2000's are 00 or 01."

i dont know the validity of this statement, he seems to know his ****, but id be interested to see if anyone can confirm or dispute this!

I got the new brochure of the CR today and they look pretty sweet. I never driven any s2000 so I can't comment in that department but it seems like they "refined" the s2k and in their words the "vechicle is the closest incarnation of Honda's racing know-how to date. Its combination of firmer suspension, stiffer body, quicker steering ratio and fully functional front and rear spoilers..."

Why would you trade your AP1 for a more costly/newer AP1 that they call CR? Not to mention the questionable taste of the bumpers and wing, etc.

From articles that I've read:
"...the steering ratio is quicker"
"...the suspension uses stiffer spring rates"

All of which are AP1 spec parts...the only thing interesting to me is the top and this new fangled shorter shifter.

Yup. Softened the rear bar too.

I still don't have a handle on how the AP2 drives. I probably overdrive the **** out of it, but for me, in understeers heavily and then suddenly oversteers.

Then again, I'm just a bad driver. I let both Eric and Mark Aubele drive my car and they crushed me (like, 2+ seconds on a 40 sec course ). I drove Aubele's E36 though, and its much more predictable, and there was less of a time gap.
