Idle problem.
I know, I know. read the threads. But I haven't found anything that's what I'm looking for. Just started happening today. When my a/c turns on, cars idles down and wants to shut off. Someone told me that there is a sensor that is supposed to prevent this from happening. is this true?

Actually, you need to tell us exactly what type of car you're talking about. There's about 30 years of Accords, & they're not all the same.
Read the threads about cleaning your IACV & FITV. That's the basic issue for your problem. Unless your car is too old. Or too new.

Maybe in '92 there's something specific for the AC load. I know there's a device over on the left end of the intake manifold that may also be involved in that system.
On the newer cars I know about the ability to hold a steady idle with AC is part of the overall idle control system. So in that case you'd want to clean the IACV & properly set your base idle.
The system has components that work together. If someone simply tries to adjust the idle, the other components fight against each other. It's particularly bad if a misguided mechanic tightens the throttle cable to bump up the idle.
Here's a good thread.

Read it all. Especially a post by ME about how to set your base idle.
