Who Has Msd ignition On a gsr? need help
I need to replace my rotor inside of the cap. since its worn out the cap is drill tru and 2 wires go in i believe for the external coil. I didnt do this set up so I dont know if I can just replace the cap and rotor with an msd and it will just work let me know I will take pictures in a second.
I dont get your question, but I think I have an idea. Are you unsure what cap and rotor to buy?
Any rotor for your motor will work. You need a MSD or any other cap that is set up for an external coil. It has a 5th spark plug wire that goes to the coil (as seen on top in your pic). You will need to drill a hole in the new cap (if your getting one) or find a new location to run the wires through.

huh? from what i understand u want to replace your rotor and cap. you'll be fine with a rotor but u will need a cap to accept the external coil plug.

yes you can just go here http://www.msdignition.com/forum/ and tell the tec guys what you need and they will give you a link to the correct part and part number to order
So the way I have it right now with a hole on the side and running the wires is ok that will apply to msd caps too right? I really only need to replace the rotor. the insulation is worn thats why. and i tought why not replace the whole cap and rotor. but to my understanding.. even the msd cap has to be dill and wires need to run out from it correct? same as the cap i currently have.
The cap looks like its msd thats what i was trying to confirm.. and why it had those 2 wires sticking out if its necessary but im guessing they are, since the wire inside got cut a bit by the rotor and the rotor is worned out too... stick with msd rotor?
yes all them msd caps had to be cut manauly buy the buyer and the wires from the orginal coil had to be run to the exturnal one (some what of a design fault) i think....... but yes that is a msd cap you have there just replace the rotor and it should be fine. hope that helped
