Default ls vtec integra running lean???????

i have a integra ls vtec and i guess the person i bought the car from didnt put the oil breather tank on because its not there.and the two hoses that go to it are just put together.and my cars throwin out a po171 code on my buddys scan tool.which means running lean.so the check engine light keeps comein on.so my questin is should i get the oil brether tank or do somethin else or just leave it?because i dont know if it somehow helps with performance with no oil breather tank.any help would be great thanks.......

what ecu are you running? do your o2 sensors work?

u really need to post as much information as possible about this car and the history.... otherwise u wont be able to get a good amount of help.

The breather isnt going to make your car run lean.

The purpose of the breather is to provide ventilation in the block because of something known as blowby... which is when some of the combustion gets passed the rings and into the oilpan and throughout the block.... without ventilation and a lot of blowby eventually different problems will arise usually with gaskets....

all engines have some blowby even when they are brand new. hondas usually have more... but if ur getting so much blowby that u need a huge breather tank then u have got problems with either your rings or your cylinderwalls.
